Πρόκειται στην ουσία για τμήμα της
αρχαίας οχυρωμένης οδού των Μακρών Τειχών. Ανάμεσα τους, μια στενή επιφάνεια
κατειλημμένη από υπόστεγα, βιοτεχνίες και λιγοστές κατοικίες, ένα απόσπασμα
γραμμική πόλης βυθισμένο σε ετερογενείς αστικούς ιστούς.
Η
πρόταση αφορά τη δημιουργία ενός χώρου πρασίνου υπερτοπικού χαρακτήρα με αναφορά
στο δίπολο Αθήνας- Πειραιά.

Διακρίνονται 7 τυπολογίες επίλυσης με γνώμονα το περιβάλλον που η
πράσινη διαδρομή συναντά και το πως τα συστατικά στοιχεία που αναφέρθηκαν
διαπλέκονται μεταξύ τους, ενώ επιχειρήθηκε σε όλο το μήκος της ο επισκέπτης να βιώνει
ένα κοινό αφήγημα.
Οι τυπολογίες είναι οι εξης: Κορύφωση,
Γεφύρωση, Εισχώρηση σε ποδηλατόδρομο, αιώρηση, Αιώρηση, Οριζόντια ενεργοποίηση
υπάρχοντος δρόμου, Οριζόντια ενοποίηση ακαλύπτων και τέλος Κατάβαση.

Title: Between Piraeus Street & the Electric Railway: Network of Oublic Spaces and Functions

The
thesis is motivated by the interest in Piraeus Street and the electric railway,
two arterial roads that unfold in parallel in the urban fabric. The area of
interest is located exactly in the zone that connects Athens with its
collateral place, Piraeus, and at the same time it is located between these 2
channels that connect the two centers, forming intersections that disrupt the
continuity of the urban network. From this zone of 8 kilometers, the interest
is concentrated in a smaller area of about 2 kilometers, characterized by a
very strong sense of narrowness, as it is essentially a series of building
blocks that are "enclosed" between the two axes. It is part of the
ancient fortified road of the Long Walls. Between them, a narrow surface
occupied by sheds, crafts and a few houses, a fragment of a linear city
immersed in heterogeneous urban tissues.
The
proposal focuses on the design of a green space of a supralocal character with
reference to the Athens-Piraeus dipole, considering that a green network would
strengthen the character of Piraeus street as a cultural axis. This network is later strengthened with
building interventions (stimulation of the residential network and public
functions). The proposed uses, whether in abandoned buildings or in new ones,
are a. Social housing, b. Student residence, c. Cultural Center, d. Cultural
Education, e. Sports f. Recreation.
The
intervention is articulated between the existing urban fabric, trying as far as
possible to respect it and is characterized by adaptability to different
qualities of building blocks, continuity and interiority. The components of the
proposal are the following: a green path made of compacted soil,urban squares,
a pedestrian network, a bicycle network and green gathering areas. 7 typologies
of design are distinguished based on the environment that the green route meets
and how the mentioned components intertwine with each other, while an attempt
was made throughout its length for the visitor to experience a common
narrative.
The
typologies are as follows: Ascent, Bridging, Ιntrusion, Levitation,
Horizontal activation of an existing road, Horizontal consolidation of the
open, exposed spaces between building blocks and finally Descent.
The
proposal is essentially a route, which aims to give unity to a diverse
environment, taking into account the history of the place, the particular
socio-economic conditions that shaped it and the unique spatial characteristics
that arosed, in the attempt to establish a proposal for part of the Athens-Piraeus
axis that will focus on the city's residents, rendering them qualities of
public space and public utility functions.
